<p><strong>Q. Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. The Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme (HKSES) aims to sponsor high achievers to study in world renowned universities. It seeks to support students with excellent academic credentials who may not have the financial means to study in these top notch foreign Universities, including the University of Oxford and Cambridge.<p>&nbsp;</p>The scholarship covers tuition fees, subject to a ceiling of HK$250,000 per annum. Additionally, a bursary will be granted to students who may need additional support to pursue their study, subject to a ceiling of HK$200,000 per student per annum. The means-tested bursary will consist of two components:<p>&nbsp;</p>1. up to HK$50,000 per annum for covering tuition fee in excess of HK$250,000; and 2. up to HK$150,000 per annum for covering living and other study-related expenses.<p>&nbsp;</p> However, the value of the award will be reduced accordingly if an applicant has other sources of scholarships/awards to fund his/her studies.<p>&nbsp;</p>There is a condition attached to the scholarship. Those who are awarded are required to return to Hong Kong upon graduation to work for at least two years or a period equivalent to the duration of receiving the scholarship, whichever is longer. The requirement can be waived or deferred however, under exceptional circumstances. In order to be eligible, applicants are required to meet the following criteria. Applicants must:<p>&nbsp;</p>1. have right of abode or right to land, or have entered Hong Kong on One-way Permits; and 2. have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the academic programme outside Hong Kong.<p>&nbsp;</p>Thus, students entering Hong Kong on student or dependant visas will not be eligible for the HKSES. Jardine Scholarship</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. The Jardine scholarship is available for those applying to select colleges in Oxford and Cambridge. These colleges include Exeter, Oriel, Queen's and Trinity at the University of Oxford, and Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse and Trinity at the University of Cambridge. It is attractive partly because it is a bond free scholarship.<p>&nbsp;</p>Hong Kong students can apply. It is open to students from the following countries: Cambodia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.<p>&nbsp;</p>The scholarship is awarded by the Jardine foundation. The Jardine Foundation aims to assist outstanding students with who have the potential to become outstanding citizens and leaders, with a high level of commitment and contribution to the community. Kwok Scholarship</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. Each year, the Kwok Scholars Association offers full scholarships to 2 outstanding and exceptional candidates. Open to Chinese or Hong Kong nationals only, the scholarship does not take into account the applicant's financial need. However, it is only available for those reading PPE or a social science subject related to public service, e.g. History.<p>&nbsp;</p> Assessment criteria: 1) Academic merit 2) Commitment to public service<p>&nbsp;</p>Application for the Kwok scholarship at Oxford has to be made after obtaining an offer in January (no need to register before UCAS). Finally, applicants must have the intention of returning to Hong Kong after their studies to pursue a career in business, Government, or in a recognised profession.<p>&nbsp;</p>The award covers the scholar's University and college fees. It also gives a maintenance grant of approximately £14,500 per annum. D.H. Chen Foundation Scholarship</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. The D.H. Chen Foundation Scholarship was established by the D.H. Chen Foundation as a way to fund exceptional undergraduate students from Hong Kong who may not be able to take up their course of study due to financial reasons. The Foundation is a Hong Kong-based private philanthropic organization that supports worthy causes in education, social welfare and healthcare.<p>&nbsp;</p>In addition to scholarship funding, The D. H. Chen Foundation will also provide internship funding for the Scholars. The internships will have a maximum value of £2,500 per Scholar and will help enable Foundation Scholars to pursue otherwise unpaid internship opportunities to gain insight and experience into their chosen career path.<p>&nbsp;</p>There are several criteria for eligibility. Applicants must be ordinarily resident in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Funding is provided for all courses at the undergraduate level except medicine. Prince Phillip Scholarship</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. The Prince Phillip Scholarship is available for those applying to the University of Cambridge. It covers up to the full cost of all fees, accommodation and living expenses for a full undergraduate programme at the University of Cambridge. It may also include a cash award of a fixed sum per annum. It also includes a Hong Kong to London economy class return air ticket.<p>&nbsp;</p> To be eligible for a Scholarship a student should either have been born in Hong Kong or have acquired "Hong Kong belonger" status through long residence. Amy Li Scholarship, Cambridge</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><pre>A. The Amy Li Scholarship was created in memory of a former Chemical Engineering student, Amy Li. Born in China, Amy attended school in the UK and successfully applied to study Chemical Engineering at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. In 2010, Amy graduated from Cambridge and began work as a Safety Engineer with DNV GL, a leading organisation in the maritime, oil and gas, and energy industries. Very unfortunately, Amy passed away only three years later, whilst working in Aberdeen.<p>&nbsp;</p>Determined to remember Amy, her colleagues at DNV GL created this scholarship. The generous donation of DNV GL generous donation will be matched by funding from the Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust, which exists to support international students at the University.<p>&nbsp;</p>This scholarship is awarded to undergraduates from any country outside the EU and will be available to outstanding applicants in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
